LittleVoice · Questions & answers

Little questions.
Clear answers.

From the first hello to the notes you want to keep.

Getting started

Does Grandma need another LittleVoice?

No. Parents and approved relatives use the companion app on a supported iPhone or Android phone. Only the child needs a LittleVoice box. Family members can send and receive notes from wherever their phone has an internet connection.

Can grandparents in another country use it?

Yes. Approved family members use the companion app wherever they have an internet connection. They can record a note in their own time, and your child can listen and reply later. There is no need to arrange a live call across time zones. Relatives do not need their own device, even if they live outside the countries where we sell LittleVoice.

Does my child need to read or hold the button?

No reading, typing, or press-and-hold is needed. One press plays a waiting note. LittleVoice guides a reply or a new note to a familiar, parent-approved spoken nickname. Their hands stay free while they talk.

What do we need at home?

A supported phone for the parent app, 2.4 GHz home Wi-Fi, and USB-C power. LittleVoice stays plugged in and has no battery. The parent sets up the child’s profile and invites family in the app. Generation one supports one child profile per device.

Can siblings share one device?

Generation one supports one child profile per device. It does not have separate inboxes or profiles for siblings on the same box. A separate device is needed for each child to have their own profile.

Is it a phone or a live call?

LittleVoice exchanges recorded messages, so nobody has to be available at the same time. It does not make live or emergency calls. It is not a baby monitor or an AI companion: the voice your child hears belongs to someone they know.

Privacy & recordings

Are our family’s notes private?

Notes are shared within the family circle you approve, using encrypted connections and private storage. The service checks and prepares audio for playback, so this is not end-to-end encryption. Parents can remove access and delete recordings. Backups follow a separate deletion schedule; independently downloaded family copies cannot be erased remotely.

Is the microphone always listening?

No. The microphone is used when recording a note or selecting a person by their approved spoken nickname. LittleVoice does not continuously listen to the room, and it has no camera. Parents choose who belongs in the family circle.

Do we need a subscription?

No. The LittleVoice app and app-to-box voice messaging are always free, with notes up to three minutes long. Free recording history lasts 30 days, and you can download special notes before they expire. LittleVoice Plus is an optional plan for WhatsApp voice notes and saving memories in the cloud. Your family can keep using the app without it.

How long can we keep voice notes?

Free voice notes remain in your history for 30 days from their original recording time. The app shows when they expire and warns you before deletion. Download the ones you want to keep; saving a copy to your own device is free. With LittleVoice Plus, you can save unexpired notes to your cloud archive to revisit while your plan is active. Subscribing cannot bring back recordings that have already been deleted.

What does LittleVoice Plus include?

LittleVoice Plus brings two things together: voice notes with approved loved ones through WhatsApp, without them needing the LittleVoice app, and a cloud archive for bedtime stories, laughter and familiar voices. The price is C$7.99/month per child, plus applicable taxes. WhatsApp support is initially for approved adult contacts with Canadian or U.S. accounts; the child does not need a WhatsApp account. Plus is available now as a separate, optional subscription. Buying your device does not enrol you.

Can we try the archive without a card?

Yes. The household owner can choose an optional 14-day archive trial, subject to eligibility. No card is needed, and it never charges or renews automatically. This is separate from the seven-day LittleVoice Plus trial. Trial-protected recordings remain available to download for 14 days after the archive trial ends; the app shows your deadlines. Starting either trial cannot recover recordings that have already expired.

Can we try LittleVoice Plus first?

The introductory offer is 7 days free for each eligible child, then C$7.99/month per child plus applicable taxes. A card is required, and the plan renews automatically each month unless you cancel. Cancel before the trial ends to avoid a charge. The app and everyday voice messaging remain free whether or not you choose Plus.

How much can we save and send with Plus?

Each child’s plan includes space for up to 10,000 minutes and 10,000 saved recordings, with up to 2,000 minutes and 2,000 recordings newly saved per billing cycle. WhatsApp includes up to 300 voice notes from loved ones to the box and 100 delivered voice notes from the box to loved ones per cycle, with notes up to three minutes long. Cycle allowances do not roll over. Once an allowance is used, additional sends or saves pause; free app messaging continues.

What if we stop subscribing?

You can cancel renewal at any time. Plus benefits continue until your trial or paid period ends, then WhatsApp messaging and new cloud archive saves stop. You have 30 days after Plus access ends to download saved recordings before they expire. Free app messaging continues, with 30-day recording history. Downloaded copies are yours to keep.

Product & support

What ages is it for, and what comes in the box?

LittleVoice is designed for children ages 5–12, with adult setup, contact approval and appropriate supervision. No reading or typing is needed: children use one button and spoken prompts to listen and reply. LittleVoice device and USB-C cable. Wall adapter not included. Adult setup and supervision are required. Keep the device and cable out of cribs and sleep spaces, and follow the supplied safety instructions. Contact us before ordering if you need help confirming your phone or power adapter is suitable. LittleVoice is not a baby monitor or an emergency device.

Why is a wall adapter not included?

Many of us already have a spare power adapter at home. Leaving an extra one out of the box helps keep costs and environmental impact down, with fewer materials, less packaging and less electronic waste. A USB-C cable is included. Need a wall adapter? Send us a message with your order number and we’ll make it happen.
